Wave house in Nova Scotia by Michael Fuller. [Update]
Michael sent me a few pictures of his beautiful cordwood cabin in Nova Scotia about 10 years ago. His photos have been very well received and admired by folks researching cordwood. He has recently sent an update about his masterwork.
This is the original picture that Michael sent of his beautiful cordwood wave cottage in Nova Scotia. It sure is an eye-catcher!
The curved beam gives the impression of a wave breaking on the shore.
“Just so you know, everything is solid. It has weathered many storms and harsh winters and not even blinked an eye. Well, the stain I put on the post and beam started to show signs of degrading a couple of years ago. So this year I did a stain job and I’m quite happy with it. I chose the colour to support the black and grey log ends as they are not stained.”
The stone knee wall helps keep the cordwood high and dry.
I always intended to write the step-by-step instructions you had suggested, I write, but I’m easily distracted. I may yet though…
Covering the cordwood with plastic so it slows the set and cure of the mortar.
Note the curved ceiling above the bed.
The door looks good in the morning and the evening. “We’ll keep the light on for you…”
